On 25 October 2018, the Conference Breaking the cycle of inequality in sport - by fixing gender balance in leadership and preventing violence against women was held in Zagreb, Croatia. The Conference was attended also by representative of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

The event was organised by the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport of the Council of Europe (EPAS), under the Croatian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. EUSA was represented at the Conference by Mr Marko Zunic, EUSA Technical Commission member. Present at the event was also Mr Davor Cipek, who also has a function of EUSA Technical Delegate for Karate.



The Conference provided key research evidence together with policy responses in order of increasing women’s leadership. With the main goal being to eliminate all forms of violence against women in sport. The program featured personal stories, presentations of experts as well as two interactive workshops.

During the Conference many notable experts in the field of preventing women violence addressed on the matter, with the keynote speakers such as Ms Anita White, co-founder of the Anita White Foundation, Ms Kari Fasting, Professor Emerita at the Norwegian School for Sport, and Ms Helena Stimac Radin from the Croatian Office for Gender Equality.



The Conference also included the interactive session with round table workshops aiming to establish adequate mechanism in both preventing violence in sport and promoting women leadership.
