AZS–EUSA meeting held in Warsaw during EUC Combat Sports 2025
This morning, the University Sports Association of Poland (AZS) officially welcomed representatives from the European University Sports Association (EUSA), National University Sports Associations (NUSAs), Organising Committee, and distinguished guests for a formal meeting held in the framework of the European Universities Combat Sports Championships 2025 in Warsaw.
The gathering opened with remarks from the Rector of the University of Warsaw and President of the University Sports Association of Poland, Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak, who reflected on the rich history, structure, and funding of the university, before linking the conversation to the long-standing tradition of AZS.

He emphasized the vital role of student sports in fostering community, personal development, and national pride, highlighting how AZS has served as a cornerstone for nurturing athletic talent and promoting healthy lifestyles among students over the decades. His speech set the tone for the event, underscoring the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and sports organizations in shaping well-rounded university sport events and athletes
Following this, EUSA President Adam Roczek delivered a detailed presentation not only on AZS and its achievements but also on EUSA itself. He highlighted the remarkable successes of both organizations over the years – from Olympic triumphs to outstanding results within FISU and EUSA competitions, underlining their shared commitment to the development of university sport at both national and international levels.

During the meeting, Mr Nowak, warmly welcomed the international guests and emphasized the values of cooperation and friendship in sport.
In recognition of his dedication and leadership, Professor Nowak was presented with a token of Appreciation from EUSA President Adam Roczek.

Among the distinguished guests were also two representatives from the world of martial arts: Robert Perc, President of the Ju-Jitsu European Union, and Joachim Thumfart, General Director of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation. Their participation further highlighted the inclusive and diverse spirit of international sports cooperation.

The key message resonating throughout the meeting was clear: although we may come from different sports, countries, and roles, sport is what unites us. The exchange not only strengthened ties between the organizations but also reinforced the shared mission of promoting university sport as a tool for education, development, and international understanding.
