Aveiro getting ready for EUSA anniversary events in 2019

Between September 25 and 28, the Portuguese city of Aveiro will host the main anniversary events of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) - the EUSA Conference, Assembly and Gala.

EUSA was established in 1999 in Vienna, Austria, and in 2019, we are celebrating our 20th anniversary. To commemorate it, we will organise our biannual conference, extraordinary General Assembly and special Gala in Aveiro, Portugal – host city of the 1st EUSA Basketball event in 2001.

In order to check the venues and define the main programme, EUSA Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl visited Aveiro for an inspection visit on January 14. He was met by a high delegation of the University of Aveiro, consisting by the Rector Mr Paulo Jorge Ferreira, Vice-Rectors Ms Alexandra Queiros and Mr Manuel Senos Matias, Director of UA Campi Office Mr Joaquim Oliveira and Director of Social Services Mr Joao Ribeiro. The Academic Association of the University of Aveiro (AAUAv) was represented by outgoing President Mr Xavier Vieira and President Elect Mr Antonio Alves. FADU was represented by its President Mr Daniel Monteiro, Vice Presidents Mr Francisco Duarte and Mr Hugo Trigo, Secretary General Mr Manuel Veloso and Secretary General of 2019 EUSA events in Aveiro Mr Andre Reis.

EUSA events in Aveiro will be hosted by the Portuguese University Sports Federation (FADU) and the University of Aveiro, in cooperation with the Academic Association of the University of Aveiro. Official programme and invitation will be prepared in the next months, but we are excited to share the general draft programme with you. Participants are expected to arrive on September 25 in the morning, with the first part of the Conference being held in the afternoon. September 26 will be dedicated solely to the conference, and the EUSA Extraordinary Assembly will take place on September 27 in the morning, followed by the EUSA Gala in the evening and departures the following day.
