The Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) brought together representatives from 16 countries in Macau on 29–30 November for its 13th Ordinary General Assembly and the annual FISU–AUSF Strategic Dialogue.

Hosted at the Lisboeta Hotel and City University of Macau, the event was organised in partnership with the Macau Universitarian Sports Association (ADUM).

The Assembly opened on 29 November with an online Presidential Address by Dr. Liu Lixin, followed by welcome remarks from the Organising Committee, who also welcomed many distinguished international guests.

The presence of EUSA leadership, including President Haris Pavletic and Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik, highlighted the strengthening partnership between European and Asian university sports, fostering cross-continental collaboration, knowledge exchange, and international strategic alignment.

In his speech, EUSA President Haris Pavletic, expressed the readiness of the organisation to deepen partnership, share expertise, and work together toward a more connected, inclusive, and innovative future for university sport.

The highlight of the General Assembly was the presentation of the AUSF Strategic Plan for Future Development, and the welcome of newly appointed leaders from National University Sports Federations across Asia.

On 30 November, the Strategic Dialogue convened experts, academics, and sport leaders to discuss the evolving landscape of university sport.
Two main sessions were part of the dialogue, each addressing critical aspects of university sport’s future: Sports Industry: Trends and Future Directions - Sports Education: Technology, Integration, and Holistic Growth.

The event culminated with the signing of a 2026 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FISU and AUSF, establishing a framework for cooperation on joint events, educational programmes, NUSF development, Healthy Campus initiatives, and governance.

The Assembly and Strategic Dialogue demonstrated AUSF’s growing influence, FISU’s global leadership, and the critical role of EUSA in promoting university sport across continents, setting a strong foundation for sustainable, innovative, and inclusive development in the years ahead.
