Action-packed end to EUC 3x3 Basketball

The EUSA 3x3 Basketball Championship came to a thrilling close on August 3 after an exciting day of finals at Matosinhos beach in Porto, Portugal.

Over 230 participants representing 43 Universities from 22 different countries took part in this year’s edition of the event.

In men’s final, Lithuania’s Vytautas Magnus University claimed the gold medal after earning a 21-9 victory against Portugal’s Polytechnic Institute of Porto.

In women’s final, the title of champions went to Vasyl Stefanyk University from Ukraine, who narrowly beat Universidade de Aveiro 11-10 in the final.

The medals and awards were presented by the President of Organising Committee Mr João Pedro Videira; EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek; EUSA representative Mr Milan Zvan; EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Ilan Kowalsky, EUSA assistant Technical Delegate Ms Jeanine Tjin-a-Sioe, Competition General Secretary Mr Nuno Loureiro; University of Porto Representative Mr Bruno Almeida, Polytechnique of Porto Vice-President Mr Henrique Curado, EUSA Representative Mr Bruno Barracosa and FADU President Mr Daniel Monteiro.

The award for the Best Shooter from the women’s competition was given to University of Zurich’s Marjana Milenkovic, and to Tallin University of Technology’s Joonas Jarvelainen in the men’s competition.

Nova University of Lisbon’s Catarina Cardoso was handed the award for the Best Fair Play among the women competitors, while the same award in the men’s competition was given to Mario Rausic from the College of Applied Sciences Lavsllan Ruzicka In Vukovar.

The award for the Most Valuable Player from the women’s competition was given to Gabriela Raimundo from University of Aveiro, while Vytautas Magnus University’s Aurimas Urbonas claimed the MVP prize in the men’s competition. 

The award for the The Best Slam in the men’s competition was given to Nikolaos Persidis from the National Technical University of Athens, while Mario Rausic from the College of Applied Sciences Lavsllan Ruzicka In Vukovar won the Three Point Contest.

The next EUC 3x3 Basketball Championship will take place in the Hungarian city of Debrecen and all teams are warmly welcomed to join the next European Universities Championship in 2021.
