The Opening Ceremony of European Universities 3x3 Basketball Championship took place on 15th July 2023 in Debrecen at main building of University of Debrecen. 

The 3x3 Basketball Championship is hosted by University of Debrecen and will take place from 15th July 2023 to 19th July 2023 in Debrecen.

The Ceremony was attended by Professor Zoltan Bacs, Canchellor of the University of Debrecen, Professor Karoly Peto, Vice–Rector of the University, Professor Laszlo Balogh, President of the Organising Committee, Professor Andras Javor, President of the University Sports Club – DEAC, and Mr Peter Juhasz, Secretary General of the Hungarian University Sports Federation.

On behalf of the European University Sport Association, the participants were welcomed by Mr Ilan Kowalsky who wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities well ahead of the start of the competition, while also thanking the Organising Committee for all their contributions.

Mr Károly Pető, Vice-Rector of the University of Debrecen also welcomed the participants on behalf of the University of Debrecen and said it was an honour for them  to host the prestigious sporting event.

The Competition will host 40 teams from as many as 20 countries, having 16 women's and 24 men's teams.

The title of European Universities 3x3 basketball Champion is defended by Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania from men and Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Ivano-Frankvisk, Ukraine from women.

EUSA is represented by Mr Ilan Kowalsky, EUSA Technical Delegate, Mr Hrvoje Marin and Ms Kinga Gaal, EUSA Staff Representative. They will make sure that the event will run smoothly and without problems. 

The 3x3 European University Basketball Championship began with a sold-out opening ceremony on Saturday evening at the University Square. At the opening, the athletes of the 35 institutions and the referees took their oaths, and the audience could also admire a spectacular dance and acrobatic basketball show.

EUSA European Universities 3x3 Basketball Championship Debrecen 2023 is counted as a Qualifying Tournament for FISU World University Cup.
