2026-27 EUSA Student Commission introductory meeting

Members of the EUSA Student Commission (STC) for the 2026-27 mandate met online on April 27 for their introductory meeting.

The session brought together the members for the first time since their nomination. The Commission is chaired by Julia Zlatkova (BUL), an elected Student Representative on the EUSA Executive Committee and recently appointed EUSA Vice-President for Youth, Engagement, and Volunteering. Commission members were recently nominated by the EUSA Executive Committee based on proposals from their national university sports associations: Franciska Coko (CRO), Gor Hambarchyan (ARM), Helena Kace (ALB), Wiktor Makowski (POL), and Sofija Saric (AUT). Additionally, Duarte Lopes (POR) joined as a representative nominated by the European Students' Union (ESU), marking a new addition to the commission’s structure. The Commission is supported by Andrej Pisl (SLO), EUSA Director of Projects and Policy, serving as Secretary and EUSA Office representative.

The meeting opened with welcomes from EUSA President Haris Pavletic, EUSA Vice-President Julia Zlatkova, and EUSA STC Secretary Andrej Pisl, followed by individual introductions from the STC members.

Participants received a comprehensive overview of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the specific aims and recent activities of the Student Commission. The main portion of the meeting focused on tasks and opportunities for commission members, including contributions to the EUSA What's Up! Student Column, the upcoming European Universities Games Salerno 2026, various projects, co-funded by the European Union and FISU. Special focus was also on existing partnerships with various international organisations and institutions, including the European Students' Union (ESU), International University Sports Federation (FISU and its Student Committee), European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO and ENGSO Youth), as well as the European Union and the Council of Europe.

Discussions also highlighted new initiatives, such as enhanced networking opportunities for student participants and cooperation with the European Student Network. Furthermore, members explored possibilities of angegement and involvement in EUSA’s EU-funded projects and the FISU Ambassador Programme.

Looking ahead, the Commission will coordinate its activities through a series of upcoming online meetings and a planned annual in-person session.
