2023 EYOF held in Maribor

European University Sports Association (EUSA) attended the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), which was held in Maribor, Slovenia between July 23 and 29, 2023.

With more than 30 years of tradition, the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) is the largest multi-sport event for young athletes aged 14 to 18. The event, which takes place biannually under the auspices of the European Olympic Committees (EOC), gives young athletes the first taste of Olympism and allows them to gain invaluable experience for further competitions on their way to the European Games and Olympic Games.

The summer edition of the EYOF in Maribor offered competitions in 11 sports. It attracted over 2500 participants from 48 countries, and featured also accompanying programme with side events and activities, including the European Young Olympic Ambassadors (EYOAs).

EUSA Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl visited the final competitions and closing of the event, also meeting representatives of EUSA partner organisations. He met with European Olympic Committees (EOC) Culture and Education Commission member and EYOA Project leader Ms Natasa Jankovic; European Fair Play Movement (EFPM) board member Mr Robert Perc; and President of the Slovenian Olympic Academy (SOA) of the Slovenian Olympic Committee (OKS) and one of the founders of the European Fair Play Movement Mr Miroslav Cerar.
