Sports Students' Union of Ukraine holds successful GA

On Thursday, February 18, the Sports Students’ Union of Ukraine held their successful General Assembly at the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine.

Various high-profile officials were in attendance, including government ministers, representatives from national and university sports federations, local councillors and university rectors.

While the Assembly met in person, distinguished guests were able attend online, with EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek was honoured to address the audience, highlighting EUSA’s strong cooperation with the Sports Student Union of Ukraine.

The Assembly then heard a report of activities which took place across 2020, before discussing plans for 2021, where various important decisions were made. Particular attention was paid to the participation of students in the European Universities Games in Belgrade, Serbia as well as the FISU World Summer and Winter Student Games.

Following the approval by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mr Sergei Shkarlet of the recommendations on the strategic development of physical education and sports preparation of students and student youth for the period up to 2025, the Sports Students’ Union of Ukraine has committed to creating a new model for students and student youth for physical education and sports, implementing healthy lifestyle as a component of maintaining and strengthening health, successful socialisation and further professional growth.

The Union also plans to increase the number of students and student youth involved in physical education and sports activities, create modern infrastructure for physical education, improve physical training rates of students, create a holistic system of identifying capable student youth and ensure conditions for physical and spiritual development worthy of representation of the state in international competitions.
