FISU launches new visual identity

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) started 2020 with launching their new visual identity, which was approved at the organisation's General Assembly last November.

FISU President Mr Oleg Matytsin said the visual identity, including a new logo, was key to the ongoing implementation of global strategy and that the new the identity could help with the development of movement and FISU's efforts to build international collaborations.

The previous logo featured the "U" representing "University", along with the five stars that symbolised the five continents. The original emblem was created by the Italian University Sports Centre (CUSI) during the inaugural Universiade in 1959 in Turin.
Change of FISU logo
The new logo features the five colours representing the continents in the traditional "U" shape.

Along with the new logo, FISU will also be gradually rebranding the official name of their main event; Universiades will be known as FISU World University Games. The change of FISU identity with the new logo and naming system is part of the implementation of FISU’s Global Strategy 2027.
