EUSA 2022-23 Magazine published

The European University Sports Association (EUSA) has published the annual edition of its magazine – the European University Sports Association Year Magazine 2022-23, recapping the European Universities Games 2022 in Lodz, Poland, and reflecting on other events and projects.

The publication gives a comprehensive overview of the EUSA flagship event, as well as other activities throughout the year, as the organization continued the work actively with various events and initiatives.

In this edition of the magazine, you will be able to find the welcome address by the EUSA President, current information on the structure of EUSA, including its member associations, Executive Committee, the Commissions, and the Secretariat.

European Universities Games Lodz 2022

The major part of the content focuses on the biggest university sport event in 2022, the European Universities Games. Apart from the general information and key statistics, all of the 20 sports featured in Lodz are presented. Also the accompanying events and activities covering educational, cultural and social programme are introduced.

Apart of the Games, the Magazine also covers the European Universities Rowing Championship, which was held in Istanbul in 2022. Other key meetings and educational events of the year are reported as well, featuring also highlights of events held under the EUSA patronage.

The Magazine reveals the EUSA Awards for 2022, recognising the achievements of our members and participating universities, as well as fair play recognition.

EUSA Solidarity fund, supporting Ukraine

A chapter of the magazine is dedicated to EUSA projects which showcase the association’s work in the topics of Equal Opportunities, Fair Play, and Dual Careers, also including Development / Solidarity fund for Ukraine and EUSA Club of Donors, EUSA Volunteer Programme, University Sport Exhibition, and the International Day of University Sport (IDUS).

EUSA is a proud partner in projects and initiatives run or endorsed by the European institutions, agencies, and other partner organizations, receiving support by the European Union, Council of Europe and other institutional bodies, so an overview of these projects was introduced as well.

European Week of Sport and the #BeActive campaign

Special attention has been given to the report of the European Week of Sport, which was held under the #BeActive slogan, promoting sport and physical activity throughout Europe as well as to the Healthy Lifestyle for All campaign.

Other EU-funded projects where EUSA is a lead or partner have also been introduced, including the projects Inclusion in Sport (iSport), European Solidarity Corps (ESC), Erasmus+ Internship, Brand Value Alignment through Dual Career (BRAVA), Green Sports Hub Europe (GSHE), Youth Integrity Ambassador Program (YIAP), Future Volunteers – Key to Success in Generation Z (K2S-GENZ), Work for a cause, serve for sport (W4C), Be(ach) Volunteer, Be(ach) Fair! (VolFair), (Uni)ted forces to support the education of (Uni)versity sport comm(Uni)ty (Uni4S), PROmoting GendeR Equality in Sports (PROGRES), Micro Learning Entrepreneurship for Athletes (MLEA), Innovating Football Leadership: Inclusion through Policy and Practice (iFlipp), and also introducing a new project - Enhancing sport organisations and management (ESOM).

EUSA Partners

The magazine also offers an overview of the most visible events and achievements of the EUSA members and partners, including the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Continental university sports bodies of Africa, Americas, Asia and Oceania, as well as the other EUSA partners and allies, including the European Commission, Council of Europe, European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO) & ENGSO Youth, and the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM), European Athlete as Student (EAS) network and the European Handball Federation (EHF).

European Universities Championships 2023

The last chapter is devoted to the future programme and information about the European Universities Championships in 2023 and 2025 - with 20 sports coming up in the summer, and introducing two new sports in the winter programme. Readers will also get a sneak-peak into the European Universities Games Debrecen-Miskolc 2024 in Hungary and the European Universities Games Salerno 2026 in Italy; while the bidding for the European Universities Games 2028 is open.

EUSA Magazine is a free publication, supported by the International University Sport Federation (FISU) and co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
