General Assembly of the Swiss University Sports Federation
The ordinary General Assembly of the Swiss University Sports Federation (SHSV/FSSU/SUSF) was held in Switzerland's capital at the University of Berne. The former World Cup Winner in Slalom and also Gold and Silver medallist at the Winter Universiade in Sapporo, Corinne Schmidhauser, was elected as a new member of the board. Fritz Holzer, Honorary Member of SUSF and FISU, retired from his work as a volunteer for the Swiss University sport after more than 50 years and was awarded by SUSF President Martin Hodler.

A new membership system was accepted by the delegates of the Swiss University Sports Organisations, allowing also Universities of Applied Sciences to become member of SUSF. Actually about 120'000 students are member of the SUSF through their University Sports Organisations. The medal winners of the World University Championships 2006 - Switzerland participated in 15 WUC and won 7 Gold, 5 Silver and 6 Bronze medals - were honoured as well as Daniela Meuli, Olympic Champion in Snowboarding and Bronze medal winner at the Winter Universiade 2007 in Torino.


The General Assembly was also very pleased to learn that Switzerland took part in more EUC than in previous years. Geneva will host the EUC Basketball in July 2007.


This year the Swiss University Sports Federation celebrates its 75th anniversary. At this occasion the next EUSA Executive Committee meeting will be held by the end of may in Magglingen at the Federal Institute for Sport, and the Swiss University Championships in seven sports such as Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Floorball, Badminton, Tennis and Table Tennis will be organized at the same date also in Magglingen. EUSA EC will be invited to the official dinner at June 2.
