The main aim of the Volunteer Program, carried out by the European University
Sports Association (EUSA), is to give a chance for young students, who are interested
in sports and in organizing sport events, to get the opportunity of experiencing a
unique adventure, learning about the values of sport, and gaining valuable work
experience through volunteering.
By volunteering at a sport
event abroad, students will
raise their competencies and
skills in organizing sport events,
have unique experiences in
different fields, exchange
knowledge, learn about the
culture of the country, meet
other students and new
friends from all over Europe
and much more. Volunteers
work for the organizing
committee, by supporting
them in the competition
field: global coordination,
manning information desks,
communicating between
organizing committee, referees
and guests.
In 2013, the European
University Sports Association,
in cooperation with the local
Organizing Committees, gave
36 students from different
countries the opportunity
to volunteer at one of the
17 European University
Championships. These
volunteers were selected out
of a record number of 405
applications! The selection
process was partially done by
the EUSA Student Commission,
partially by the organizing
committee. Volunteers were
involved in a wide range of
activities at the event: opening
and closing ceremonies,
accreditations and welcoming,
daily reports of the event,
photography and media, sport
programs and competition,
leisure program, logistics and
medical support.
In 2014 students will be able
to volunteer at the second
European University Games in
Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Candidates are able to
register online on the EUSA
website. Selected volunteers
will then again have a unique
international experience!
Some feedback of this year’s
Volunteer Program:

“During my time at the
tournament I realized how much
work it is to organize such a
tournament. The organization
committee did an unbelievable
job. Everyone involved in the
tournament was like a big family
helping were they could. Also
for the volunteers there was a
great balance between free time
and work. My personally thought
was that this has been a great
experience I met a lot of great
people, made a lot of friends
and will always remember this
