Initial FISU CDSU meeting held online

Committee for the Development of University Sport (CDSU) of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) met online for its initial introductory meeting in the current mandate today.

The main objectives and responsibilities of CDSU are to examine and submit policies and objectives for the different Development areas to the decision of the FISU Executive Committee; develop appropriate tools to structure the administrative work and develop external and internal communication in the area of Development; analyse and work out recommendations for the FISU Executive Committee for projects presented by Continental University Sports Federations (CUSF) and National University Sports Federations (NUSF), as well as other special projects that FISU wants to initiate; and to allocate financial resources and carry out monitoring and evaluation of the projects and programmes approved by the FISU Executive Committee.

The work of FISU CDSU is coordinated by Mr Stefan Bergh (SWE) as the Chair and Delise O'Meally (USA) as the Vice-Chair. Members are Ashraf Sobhy Mohamed Hussein (EGY), Lixin Liu (CHN), Alim Rachid Maluf Neto (BRA), Adam Roczek (POL), David Schmude (AUS) and Eric Saintrond (BEL). All continental university sport federations are represented in the committee. FISU President Mr Leon Eder, as well as key FISU staff also attended the first meeting of the committee.

After the opening remarks and introductions of the committee members, the participants were presented a general overview of the cooperation between FISU and CUSFs, discussed general objectives and tasks of the committee, expectations, and set the way of working, communication and meetings.
