First 2024 FISU Executive Committee Meeting in Lausanne

On March 1 and 2, 2024, the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Executive Committee took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, with the participation of ten new EC members.
The European University Sports Association (EUSA) attended this first FISU EC Meeting of the year represented by its President Adam Roczek.

The two-day event started with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in FISU’s Synathlon building, marking the organization's 75th anniversary.

Firstly, organizing committees for upcoming events, namely North Carolina 2029, Chungcheong 2027, Torino 2025, and Rhein-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, provided comprehensive progress reports.

Torino 2025 recently marked a significant milestone with the successful "Lights on U" event. On this occasion, the mascot TO Tag was unveiled to both the local community and the global audience.
Rhein-Ruhr 2025 initiated the volunteer recruitment process through the "No Games without U" campaign, receiving an overwhelming response with over 750 applications within a few hours. Registrations for the 2024 FISU World Forum, scheduled for the end of August in Zagreb, are progressing favorably, as confirmed by Marko Zunic, the President of the Organizing Committee. Additionally, it was confirmed that the 2026 FISU World Forum will be held in Östersund, Sweden.

In a significant commitment to sustainability, FISU outlined a three-step plan aligned with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This plan encompasses FISU as an organization, FISU as a leader in the University Sport Movement, and FISU as the owner of university sports events.

Lastly, the 2026 FISU World University Championships were allocated to various cities: Canoe Sprint to Szekesfehervar (HUN), Cross Country to Cassino (ITA), Futsal to Poznan (POL), Handball to Pessac (FRA), Mind Games to Liaocheng (CHN), Rugby Sevens to Stellenbosch (RSA), Shooting Sport to New Taipei City (TPN), Triathlon to Nyon (SUI), and Rowing to London Ontario (CAN).

The FISU Executive Committee will hold its next meeting at the end of September 2024.
