EUC Rowing 2024 to be held in Ankara

In 2024, the European Universities Rowing Championship will be held between August 29th and 1st of September, in Ankara, Türkiye.

As rowing is not one of the sports disciplines of this year's European Universities Games in Debrecen-Miskolc, EUSA Executive Committee attributed the 2024 European Universities Rowing Championship to the city of Ankara.

Ankara, being the capital of the country, offers great conditions for rowing, as itself has advanced the sport nationally, having large number of athletes actively competing in many national and international competitions, with great results.

Supported by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF), with the support of Atilim University and the Turkish Rowing Federation, the event will bring together university rowers from all over Europe.

On 13-14 of March, an inspection visit took place in Ankara, in order to check the preparations and logistics for this year’s European Universities Rowing Championship. EUSA was represented by the Technical Delegate for Rowing Mr Lionel Girard, welcomed and assisted by representatives of the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF).

The first day, the delegation had the opportunity to visit the premises of Atilim University, where the accreditation centre, as well as the opening ceremony will take place.

During this visit they were greeted by the Rector of Atilim University, Prof Dr Serkan Eryilmaz, who expressed full support of the upcoming event, with their services.

Within the inspection visit, the delegation reviewed the preparations for the event and inspected the event venues, including the campus for dormitories and catering area.

The next day, two technical meetings were held, one at the headquarters of the Turkish University Sports Association and the second one at the rowing competition site, checking and discussing competition matters, equipment, and racing course.

The visit was successful, with all stakeholders showing a genuine desire to make EUSA European Universities Rowing Championship a success, with diverse participation from all around Europe. EUSA expresses great gratitude to the involved partners for their full commitment.

More information regarding the European Universities Rowing Championship will follow soon, with the opening of the registrations.
