The project is aimed at establishing an European-wide Anti-Doping mentality in the youth sector by establishing a moral tenor towards concepts such as Fair-play, sensitizing and raising awareness on all levels of the complex social environment surrounding the doping problematic and implementing strategies to motivate young people to pass on the message and create a strong multiplying effect.

Core partners in the project are the Network for the European Youth Work in Sports within the European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO Youth), European University Sports Association (EUSA), German Sports Youth within the German Olympic Committee (DSJ), French Olympic Committee (CNOSF), Olympic Committee of Slovenia (OKS), Austrian Athletics Federation (ÖLV), Italian Federation of Aerobics and Fitness (FIAF), International Catholic Federation of Physical and Sporting Education (FICEP) and Doping Prevention Center at the Heidelberg University of Education (ZDP).

The actions of the project will be to develop a peer-to-peer network of Anti Doping Junior Ambassador (ADJA) through Youth Camps, develop a best practice catalogue and an EU Model for preventive Anti-Doping Education, implement this model in several levels (Local, National, European), produce educational training tools to support the work of the ADJA and to spread the information and organise seminars and conferences on National and European levels in order to encourage networking, communication and future long-term cooperation between the partners.

The project will continue in different phases by the end of March 2012. More information is available at the official website of the project www.anti-doping-initiative.eu.

Funded byThe European Anti-Doping Initiative is funded by the EU programme Preparatory Action in the field of sport, and promotes healthy sports participation, without drugs.

Anti-Doping Junior Ambassadors

European University Sports Association (EUSA) nominated the ambassadors and representatives for the EADIn Anti-Doping Junior Ambassador Camp.

At the camp in Berghausen they will be able to implement methods, exercises and experiences that the participants can (at least partially) reproduce during the national/ organisational implementation of EADIn, to communicate the importance of experiential educational methods to the participants, which will convey both cognitive knowledge and trigger affective (emotional) responses, to motivate the participants to implement national/local anti-doping measures (in their federation, sportclub, school etc.) and to address the participants as future leaders/ spokespersons.

The content of the camp can be summarised in 5 points: Conveyance of positive messages: healthy lifestyle, mental strength, sensible career planning; Development of knowledge: nutritional supplements/ painkillers, effect of advertisements, pitfalls, responsibilities and rights of sportswomen/ sportsmen; Reflection and argumentation concerning the various topics of doping; Developing skills to react in certain situations; and getting to know Strategies and methods of intervention.

Team attending the camp in Burghausen: Marko Zunic (CRO) – group coordinator; Abosede Ajayi (GBR) - EUSA representative – Medical commission member; Aikaterini Zompanaki (GRE), Luka Rukavina (CRO), Andre Bonello (MLT), Jan Druzina (SLO) and Tjasa Hojnik (SLO) – ambassadors. Other ambassadors we will try to include in the programme after the camp: Adre Rasteiro (POR), Louanne Caruana (MLT) and Sofi Weckman (FIN).
