10th EUSA GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2008

Paris, France; December 6, 2008

 

The 10th EUSA General Assembly took place on December 6, 2008 in Paris (FRA). The host of the event, the French University Sports Federation (FFSU), was pleased to welcome the delegates from 39 EUSA member federations.


At the beginning of the event, the participants were welcomed by Mr. Alberto Gualtieri, EUSA President, Mr. Jose Savoye, FFSU President, Mr. George E. Killian, FISU President, Mr. Michel Bonfils on behalf of the French Olympic Committee President Mr. Henri Sérandour and Mr. Hassan Chick, the FASU President. Among the invited guests were also the EUSA Honorary President, the rectors and the representatives from the awarded Universities, FISU Secretary General and FISU 1st Vice – President.

 

The General Assembly was chaired by Mr. Stefan Bergh. The delegates accepted Georgia and Azerbaijan as the new EUSA Members, approved the Executive Committee and Student Commission final reports, approved the budgets and the activity plan for 2009 and agreed on the modification to the statutes.

 

Mr. Oleg Matytsin (RUS) was elected as the new EUSA Vice-President while Mr. Aitor Canibe Sanchez (ESP) and Otmar Kugovnik (SLO) were elected as the new EUSA Executive Committee Members.

 

The EUSA 2008 Best University Award was given to Mr. Alexander Bleer, the Rector of the Russian State University for Physical Education, Sports and Tourism. Peter Baars and Pepijn Lochtenberg from the University of Vrije, NED received the Fair Play Award and Mr. Roch Campana, former FISU Secretary General was awarded the EUSA Order of Merit.

 

The next EUSA General Assembly will take place in Vienna (AUT) from December 4-6, 2009.
